York is located in the country of Yorkshire which is found in Northern England. Yorkshire is the largest of all counties in England covering around 3 million acres of land and has a population of over 5 million people. The town of York is over 200 miles north of London and has a population of under 50,000 as of 2013. The town is peppered with history and is a great place to spend some time.

Why Visit York

First, York is very easy to get to. The town is easily accessible by train from any major town or city in England. Second, York is full of history. Lastly, the town is just beautiful. The town is surrounded by a beautiful wall that dates back to 71 AD. In fact the walled “city” was created by the Romans as a defense against invaders. You can walk along the walls to get a good view of the town. The town also hosts the York Minster, which is a humongous cathedral, and a wonderful sight to behold.
